From Megalochori there is a small sloping paved road to the left of the settlement, which leads -through olive and fig trees- at Palaiokastro, the acropolis of Ancient Methana, with its preserved volcanic rock walls, dating from the 4th BC century, and just below lies the chapel of St. Nicholas dating from the 15th century.
